Despite being released as budget games, the series has surprisingly high production values. In 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal, released in 2004, the user can travel across the entire continental US, and also northern Mexico and southern Canada, through 30 cities. This installment is thought to be the 2nd most popular game in the series, while 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin' is the most popular. In my opinion, the game is not bad. It actually is a lot of fun, although driving can be a bt boring sometimes. The graphics are not terrible, but they're not exactly great either. Every city has similar buildings, intersections, and scenery, but with different patterns and a few differences. While not exactly geographically correct, the gameplay value is very high, and very addicting for a while, depending on how good your attention span is. The scenery varies from region to region depending where you are on the map. Control could be better. It is a bit hard to control heavier, longer trucks at high speeds, as since you have to use the arrow keys, control is jerky, and sensitive. Trying to keep a truck in one lane going down narrow roads or around sharp bends on the interstate is a challenging feat by itself. Carrying longer loads may require extra caution and ...
